Professional holiday lighting is sold in two very different ways. Some companies rent you a display every year: they own the lights and you pay for the whole package again each season. Others sell you the lights and charge for the work of installing them. Majestic does the second. It’s worth understanding the difference before you book anyone, because it changes what you pay for in year two, three and beyond.
How the Majestic model works
- You buy your lights from Majestic and pay for installation labor.
- From year two on, you pay labor only. Your lights are already yours.
- Lifetime warranty on our Christmas lighting products: any broken parts are replaced each year you sign up for installation.
- A 65% deposit reserves your install date.
That’s the whole structure. There’s no annual rental fee on top of the labor and no point where the lights revert to us.
Why owning makes sense for most homes
The lights are cut for your house. A good display is built around one roofline: the length of each eave, where the peaks are, which trees are worth wrapping. Lights cut and fitted to your home go back up the same way next season, so the design you approved the first year is the design you get every year.
The second season costs less than the first. Because the lights are already paid for, every season after the first is labor only. If you plan to light the house most years, ownership is the arrangement that rewards that.
You keep control. If you decide to add a tree, change colors or skip a year, it’s your call. The lights don’t belong to a contract.
How the lifetime warranty works
Outdoor holiday lights live a hard life: wind, rain, cold snaps, sun and squirrels. Bulbs fail and a section of wire gets damaged now and then. Under our lifetime warranty on Christmas lighting products, any broken parts are replaced each year you sign up for installation. In practice, that means the yearly install is also a yearly inspection. Anything that has failed is swapped out before the display goes back up, so the first night of the season looks complete.
The warranty is tied to the annual install for a simple reason: that’s when the crew has every strand in hand and can find and replace what’s broken.
Owning vs renting, side by side
| Own (Majestic) | Rent / lease | |
|---|---|---|
| Who owns the lights | You | The company |
| Year one | Lights + installation labor | Full seasonal package |
| Year two and after | Labor only | Full seasonal package again |
| Broken parts | Replaced each year you sign up for install | Depends on the contract |
| Design changes | Your choice each year | Within what the company stocks |
What “commercial-grade” should mean when you buy
If you’re going to own your lights, they should be built to be reused. Look for sealed sockets, wire rated for outdoor use, and LEDs made for season after season rather than a single December. Store-bought sets are designed around a low shelf price; lights meant to be reinstalled every year are designed around how many seasons they last.
Questions to ask any company before you book
- Do I own the lights, or am I renting them?
- What will I pay for in the second year?
- What happens when bulbs or wires break?
- How much is the deposit, and what does it hold?
- Will the same design go back up next year?
