The Professional Holiday Lighting Process — What to Expect
If you’ve never worked with a professional Christmas light installer, you might not know what the process looks like from start to finish. It’s simpler than most people expect — and the result is dramatically better than anything you can achieve with retail lighting and a weekend afternoon. Here’s exactly what happens when you hire Majestic Lighting Design.
Step 1: On-Site Consultation
We visit your property, walk the front yard and outdoor spaces with you, and discuss what you want the finished installation to look like. This is the most important step — it’s where we understand your style preferences, the features of your home and landscape that deserve the most attention, and any constraints (roofline access points, existing electrical, HOA restrictions).
The consultation typically takes 20–45 minutes. It’s free, and there’s no obligation.
Step 2: Design and Estimate
After the consultation, we develop a written design and line-item estimate for your review. The estimate specifies the fixture types, wire runs, transformer placement, and estimated installation time. You review, approve, and we schedule the install date.
Step 3: Installation Day
Our installation crew arrives on the scheduled date with all hardware, tools, and equipment. For a standard residential install (roofline + tree wrapping), installation typically takes 2–4 hours. For large estate installs, a full day or two. We handle everything — you don’t need to be home unless you want to be.
Step 4: Dusk Preview and Walk-Through
When the install is complete and darkness falls, we do a dusk walk-through with you (or via photos if you’re not available) to review the finished design, make any adjustments, and confirm the timer settings and control system setup.
Step 5: Season Service
If anything fails during the season — a bulb, a circuit, a timer — we come back and fix it. Professional-grade systems rarely fail, but when they do, they’re our responsibility to fix at no charge within the season.
Step 6: Takedown and Storage
After the holidays, we schedule takedown, carefully remove and pack everything, and either store it for you or pack it neatly for your own storage. Next year’s install is faster because everything is documented and labeled from this year.
